Short Term Rental Input & Committee Info Session On The Calendar
The Asbury Park City Council has announced two initiatives aimed at inviting public participation.
First up will be a 7 p.m. Nov. 29 Committee Information Session at the Asbury Park Senior Center, located at 1201 Springwood Avenue, 2nd Floor.
Lead by Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn and Councilwoman Eileen Chapman, the meeting aims to foster community participation on the City’s various boards, committees and commissions.
The ad hoc groups include: the APTV Committee, Business Committee, Deal Lake Commission, Environmental Shade Tree Commission, Green Team Committee, Housing Authority, the Public Library Board, Parking Committee, Planning Board, Public Arts Commission, Quality of Life Committee, Recreation Committee, Sunset Lake Commission, Wellness Committee, Wesley Lake Commission, and Zoning Board of Adjustment.
The City also put out a call for suggestions on its Short Term Rental guidelines.
Slated to be amended in 2019, City officials have said they will look to retool the guidelines in a way that best suits the community as a whole.
“The Council’s goal has been to put together thoughtful and comprehensive regulations on short term rentals in Asbury Park, Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn said in a written statement. “We strongly believe a Short Term Rental Ordinance is necessary to help preserve the existing housing stock, maintain the integrity of our neighborhoods, and help protect proprietors, but we also know the existing Ordinance needs to be fine-tuned to make sure it’s both effective and efficient, while also trying not to hinder those who are renting their properties short term to earn incremental income.”
Suggestions will be accepted through Dec 14 via STR@cityofasburypark.com.
