Tattoo Festival, Summer Solstice Yoga, Promised Land exhibit on agenda
Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival Kicks Off Friday
Tattoo artist from across the globe will gather Friday through Sunday at Convention Hall [1300 Ocean Ave] on the Asbury Park Boardwalk for the 8th Annual Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival. Featuring tattoo contests, Olde City sideshow, burlesque performances, Steve Truitt’s suspension, Lucha Libre wrestling, the Miss Asbury Park Pinup contest, parties at the Wonder Bar and The Asbury, tickets are $20 per day or $40 for a three-day pass. Saturday Sunset Farmer’s Market
The Asbury Park Sunset Farmer’s Market runs from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturdays through October [weather permitting]. Located at Fireman’s Park, at Main Street and Sunset Avenue, the outdoor market features farm fresh goods, pickles, flowers, baked goods, and more. For more information, click here.
Sunday Lakehouse Music Academy All Stars Showcase
Live at the Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten [527 Lake Ave] hosts this Lakehouse Music Academy All Stars Showcase. Students will bring their best studio collaborations to the roof from 6 to 9 p.m.
Monday Summer Solstice Yoga
The Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten [527 Lake Ave] will host a free Summer Solstice Rooftop Yoga 7 p.m. Monday, compliments of Reyka vodka. Serena Soffer leads the class, with live music by Patricks Taps Guden and Emilio Zef China. For more info, click here.
Music Mondays At Springwood Avenue Park
The Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County’s Hip Hop Institute opens for High & Mighty Brass Band, a visually-bewitching brass band mixing New Orleans street music, funk, afro-beat, and hip-hop. The show kicks off at 6 p.m.
National Night Out Returns Tuesday
Bringing the block party to Municipal Headquarters, the The Asbury Park National Night Out celebration returns from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Music, free food, games, giveaways, prizes, and bounce castles are all a part of the bill. The national is held to help law enforcement create partnerships and build camaraderie with citizens of its community, as well as to heighten the community’s awareness to crime and drug prevention initiatives.
Promised Land Opens at Fifth Avenue Pavilion
DC-based Transformer Cofounder Victoria Reis opens Promised Land, a contemporary exhibit featuring work by a dozen east-coast based artists at the 5th Avenue Pavilion [1200 Ocean Ave] on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. The artwork not only explores a range of current national issues but also touches on Asbury Park’s past & present. The show is supported by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, Madison Marquette and Asbury Park Waterfront. Exhibit hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays, through Sept. 7. For more information, click here.
Wednesday Beach Bonfire
This week’s Beach bonfire will be held on Sunset Avenue beach, according to organizers. Attendees are welcomed to bring their own blankets, chairs, and snacks to the sunset event, kicking off around 8 pm.
