Irish Barbeque
Kick of the Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade fundraising during this Beach BBQ at The Anchor’s Bend, located inside Convention Hall at 1300 Ocean Avenue. This 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday benefit features an Irish barbecue, cash bar and music by Steve Reilly. Admission is $10, and for more information, click here.
Film in Springwood Park
I Am Not Your Negro, the Oscar-nominated documentary by Raoul Peck, will be screened 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Springwood Avenue Park, located between Union and Atkins avenues. Presented by the Racial Justice Project, the free event features an after screening discussion led by local activist and minister Nicole Harris. Don’t forget you portable chairs and blankets. Networking at The Bend
The Asbury Park and Greater Ocean Township Chambers of Commerce come together to host this Business Card Exchange at The Anchor’s Bend, located inside Convention Hall at 1300 Ocean Ave. The 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday networking event features light fare and a sunset happy hour. Beach Bonfire
This week’s Bonfire moves to the Third Avenue beach. Grab the portable chairs and blankets for this local summer favorite, kicking off at 8 p.m.
A Community Conversation
A Conversation, organized by Civil Rights ‘foot soldier’ Rev. Gil Caldwell, will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, located at 124 Atkins Avenue. This free world cafe style event features three young members of the clergy reflecting on their recent foreign travels and how it applies to the local community.
Out Like Lambs Record Release Party
Joining film and music, Out Like Lambs celebrate the release of Fingers Crossed at The Asbury, 210 Second Ave. Instead of playing, the local band asked a few filmmakers to add their magic to the album’s tracks. The result is 14 shorts that envision the music. Held 7 p.m. Friday at The Baronet, The Yams and Sister Ancestor open. Admission is $10. For more information, click here.
Summer Soul KYDS Fundraising Event
KYDS and Danny Clinch Transparent are at it again, presenting this Summer Soul showcase, featuring Stringbean Blues, Quincy Mumford, and Park on Lark. This fundraising event, held in support of holistic programs for the city’s youth, kicks off at 4 p.m. Sunday with a mindful meditation at Transparent gallery, located inside The Asbury at the Kingsley Street entrance.
