A Healthier Asbury Park
EZ Ride and the Alliance for a Healthier Asbury Park will host a free health screening and healthier snacks after school event from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday at Prime Convenience Store, located at 1221 Asbury Ave. The event launches the Healthy Corner Store initiative and will include a food tasting, coupons for an individual size can of 100% pineapple juice, two bananas, an apple, two bags of popcorn or three bags of pretzels.
Beach Bonfire
Gather the snacks, blankets, chairs and other accouterments for this week’s Beach Bonfire. Setting off at sunset, close to 8 p.m., the bonfire moves to the Fifth Avenue beach on Friday.
Voter Registration at Asbury Fresh
The Downtown Neighbors Association [DNA] will be offering voter registration and vote by mail applications during Sunday’s Asbury Fresh market in Kennedy Park, located at Cookman and Grand avenues. DNA volunteers will be at the vendor table from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., distributing applications and answering questions. Voter registration deadline for the November elections is Oct 17. Tails of Hope Beach BBQ
The Annual Tails of Hope Beach BBQ Bash will be held 2 to 6 p.m. at Anchor’s Bend, located inside Convention Hall at 1300 Ocean Ave. The fundraiser in support of the no-kill shelter features live music, food, a cash bar, a 50/50 raffle and gift basket auction. Mayor’s Wellness Committee Walks
A Mayor’s Wellness Committee team will participate in Sunday’s American Heart Association Shoreline Heart Walk. The walk sets off 9 a.m. on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. The rain or shine event features a fun bus, health screenings, a bark park, DJ and prizes. Individuals can join the Mayor’s Wellness Committee team and/or donate by clicking here.
