Free Kids Meals, Bitcoin Workshop, Center's Call To Chefs, Free Day At The Beach, & National Night Out Advisory

Boys & Girls Club Free Meal Program

Alliance for a Healthier Asbury Park has partnered with NJ Health Initiatives to launch a Free Summer Meal Program at the local Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County, located at 1201 Monroe Ave. The noon to 3 p.m. program is open to ages 5 to 18 and features yoga, meditation, arts & crafts, sports and other recreation activities. The free meals are served from noon to 2 p.m. Monday to Thursday through Aug. 2.

Bitcoin Mining Workshop

An introduction to Cloud Mining and ASIC Hardware Mining of Bitcoin will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Cowerks, located at 619 Lake Avenue. This tutorial offers a guide for everything from setup and running a turnkey mining operation, including which hardware to purchase, where to buy it, and costs, to how to manage mined BTC payouts, wallets and exchanges. Tickets are $40 via the eventbrite.com listing.

12th Annual Family Day at the Beach

The annual free day at the beach returns from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday on the Eighth Avenue beach. Sponsored by the Surfrider Foundation, Jersey Shore Chapter, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Wellness Committee, the event features a beach cleanup, free surf lessons, food, music, and games. Free transportation will be offered 11:30 a.m. from the Boys and Girls Club [1201 Monroe Ave], the Mercy Center [1106 Main St]; and the West Side Community [115 Dewitt Ave]. Volunteers are needed to help with setup, surf lessons [and soft boards], beach games, registration, transportation, food donations, and clean up. The Center’s Call To Chefs

The Center in Asbury Park is seeking volunteers willing to prepare weekend meals for its residents. The all-volunteer provides support services for people living with HIV/AIDS typically requires meals for six to 12 people from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 45 p.m. Sunday. Help is available for ordering meal ingredients. Individuals, families, youth groups, school clubs, churches, and temples can sign on for the following the dates: July 22, July 28, Aug 25, Sept 29, Nov 25, Dec 23, and Dec 29. National Night Out Advisory

Ocean Township Police are seeking community partners for the annual National Night Out event being held 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 in Wegmans parking lot on Route 35. Interested volunteers can Email Det. Raheem Carter via rcarter@oceantwp.org. In related news, Asbury Park will be hosting its National Night Out event from 5 to 8 p.m. in Springwood Avenue Park.
