KYDS June Events
The Konscious Youth Development & Service [KYDS] monthly lineup of events are aimed at nourishing the body, mind and soul. The 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday June 12 & 19 Mindful Meditations offer a place to reset peace and balance. This month’s 5:30 to 9 p.m. June 24 One Mic One Soul offers artists of all ages, skill, and mediums a chance to take the open mic stage. Led by Mychal Mills and Rodney Salomon, the nonprofit works to build strong healthy communities through a holistic approach. Their free Journey Summer Program runs from July 5-28 in Neptune. McLoone’s Supper Club Summer Lineup
Tim McLoone debuts the new summer lineup of entertainment at his Supper Club with three new shows. Monday’s will now feature 7:30 p.m. Boardwalk Karaoke with DJ Joe, followed by 8:30 p.m. Tuesday Drag Karaoke hosted by Jolina Jasmine, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday Dueling Piano night with Tim McLoone and a special guest. Doors open one hour prior to each event and there will be no cover through June’s end. Tim McLoone’s Supper Club is located at 1200 Ocean Avenue. For more information, visit the website.
Saturday Flea Market
Second Baptist Church Annual Flea Market and Clothing Giveaway will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Springwood Avenue Park. Organized by the church’s Christian Caring and Helping Hand Ministry, the free family event features bounce houses for the kids, health screening courtesy of Meridian Health, a fresh vegetable giveaway courtesy of MURC, a free lunch distribution, and the Men’s Ministry $10 fish dinners. The day includes singing, drumming, and spoken word performances, and community organization vendor tables. Parents can also sign up for the church’s vacation bible school, Inspire Life Arts and Technology Camp, and the Monmouth County Boys and Girls club summer camps.
Summer Solstice: A Jersey Shore Affair at The Asbury
The Hetrick-Martin Institute [HMI] 2017 Summer Solstice: A Jersey Shore Affair will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Asbury’s Salvation Rooftop Bar. Held in support of the LGBTQ youth ages 13 to 24, the New York based group administers support initiatives including safe havens, meals, academic enrichment, job readiness, and arts and culture programs across 300 zip codes in the tristate area. Resilience
A closing reception will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. for MaryAnn Vitiello’s Resilience, currently on display at Exhibit No. 9 gallery, located at 550-102 Cookman Ave. This 40-year survey by the long time Asbury Park resident, nurse practitioner and photographer, spotlights the capacity of the human spirit to prevail over adversity.
