Springwood redevelopment & Heck Avenue condos on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by a public workshop session at 6:30 p.m. and the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:
• Executive session discussions consist of the director of communication, commerce, financial advisor, and insurance broker positions; contract negotiations related to 34-unit condominiums at 601 Heck; the annual CDBG grant contract; Bradley Cove appraisal; the Monmouth County Open Space program – Springwood Park; and talks with Carter Sackman regarding the Savoy Theater, residential and retail pilots and a parking garage.
• During the regular session meeting a proclamation will be presented to the award-winning Asbury Park High School Debate Team.
• Resolution votes, those considered routine in nature, include special event and wedding applications; appointments to boards and committees; a subsequent developer’s agreement with iStar Financial for the Monroe condominiums; police department participation in an inter-local grant program; the city’s hazard mitigation plan; an extension of the Springwood Avenue lease agreement; an inter-local BOE agreement for video cameras; and legislation in support of legalizing, taxing and regulating marijuana for adults.
• Ordinance introductions include a tax exemption agreement for the 34-unit condominiums at 601 Heck and easement allowances for use of the city’s rights-of-way along Bond Street and Cookman Avenue.
