Third Avenue Home Fire Displaces Family of Three
Blaze remains under investigation
A Monday night blaze has left a family of three generations temporarily homeless, according to Asbury Park Fire Chief Kevin Keddy.
The Third Avenue home, in the 1,000 block, was left inhabitable, Keddy said. The Asbury Park Fire Department responded near 6 p.m. to the report of a fire.
The blaze appears to have ignited in a second floor bedroom and burned through to the downstairs living space, Keddy said. A box alarm, a call for additional man power, was issued and the fire was put down within five minutes and fully under control within 10 minutes, he said.
While the cause remains under investigation, initial investigations point to an electrical problem at the owner occupied home.
Keddy said an older female lived at the home with her daughter and grandson. They were immediately placed with family members.
