Thursday Charity Challenge In Support of Kula Cafe
Contributors enter running for $500 OceanFirst Good Neighbor Grant
A Charity Challenge was elevated Thursday morning when Interfaith Neighbors announced a one-day fundraising initiative in support of Kula Cafe, located at 1201 Springwood Ave.
Executive Director Joe Marmora announced OceanFirst Foundation will sponsor the Bonus Challenge, running through 5 p.m. only.
Kula Cafe opened its doors in April 2013. Since then, a host of young men and women have received on-the-job hospitality training and have gone on to work in area restaurants.
Through an entrepreneurial approach, the 16-week training works to address any obstacles to employment and includes a 4-week paid externship at a local restaurant, thereby allowing business owners to witnessed firsthand the skills participants have learned.
Now in the midst of a fundraising campaign that has garnered close to $5,000, Kula’s Bonus Challenge Day will allow any organization that raises at least $500 a chance to win their own $500 Good Neighbor Grant from the financial institution’s charitable entity.
