Township Woman Arrested After Kicking Officer in Chest
The 24-year-old faces, obstruction, resisting arrest, aggravated and simple assault charges
A 24-year-old woman was arrested Monday evening for aggravated assault of a police officer following police response to a reported dispute at the Continental Garden Apartments on Willow Drive, Det. Lt. Timothy Torchia announced in a news release.
Township Resident Samantha Swasey was also charged with resisting arrest, obstruction and simple assault, according to the written report.
From the release:
On January 2, 2017 at 11:33 p.m. police officers Glennis Polanco and Christopher Stenger responded to a Willow Drive apartment for a report of a dispute between a male subject and a female subject. During their investigation, the female subject, later identified as Samantha Swasey, was unruly and disorderly with Officer Polanco.
After failing to obey the officer’s commands efforts were made to place Swasey under arrest. During the course of the arrest Swasey became violent and was resisting being handcuffed. As Swasey was exhibiting this violent behavior she kicked Officer Stenger in the chest. Officer Stenger did not suffer any injuries as a result of the assault. Swasey was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the station for processing without further incident.
Swasey was released on a summons, pending a future court appearance.
