Trunk Or Treat Halloween Celebration Being Planned
Recreation Commission seeks participants and donors for Oct 31 Community Event
The Asbury Park Recreation Commission has announced the launch of its First Annual Trunk or Treat Halloween celebration.
Last year, the community Halloween event [shown in photos] took place inside City Council Chambers.
This year, the event moves outside as a fun, safe and easy option for parents, said Councilman Jesse Kendle, who heads the Recreation Commission.
Cars decorated in the Halloween theme with their treat filled trunks will line the City Hall parking lot from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct 31.
Those not comfortable with using their vehicle’s trunk will be assigned distribution tables, organizers said. Over 200 children will then trick or treat by going from car trunk to car trunk collecting goodies.
Participants can donate goodies to hand out or the organizing commission we will provide the treats.
This is a great time to represent yourself or your business as a community partner, organizers said in written statement.
Accepted donations include: candy, healthy snacks and granola bars, Halloween goodies, and promotional business materials. All goodies and candy must be individually wrapped; no bags of loose candy will be accepted.
Monetary donation for candy purchases can be made payable to The Asbury Park Recreation Trust, attn Leesha Floyd, 1 Municipal Plaza, Asbury Park, NJ 07712.
