Two arrested after shots fired in train station parking lot, police say
Incident took place Friday night
Two men were arrested after shots were fired in the train station parking lot on Memorial Drive, Police Captain Anthony Salerno said today.
Within an hour of receiving a report that shots had been fired, police arrested Donovan Bereen, 18, of Trenton, just after midnight, Salerno said.
Bereen was allegedly found to be in possession of 10 bags of heroin and a handgun after “firing it into the air,” Salerno said.
Bereen fired the gun to break up a fight, Salerno said. The fight had dispersed by the time police arrived, although they arrested Bereen and Jared Washington, 18, of Asbury Park.
Washington was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and obstruction of justice, Salerno said. He was released on a summons.
Bereen was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of an unlawful handgun, Salerno said. His bail is set at $150,000.
