Two arrested in armed robbery at Apartment Complex
Ocean PD: Victim, an Asbury Park resident, was lured to Deal Road building by a friend
A 17-year-old female resident and 20-year-old man were arrested Tuesday night in connection with an armed robbery at Middlebrook Apartment Complex on Deal Road, Ocean Township Police Department spokesman Det. Lt. Timothy R. Torchia announced via a written statement.
The female juvenile was charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery, and township resident Royal M. Moore, 20, was charged with robbery, possession of a handgun, and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purposes.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., the Ocean Township Police responded to the Middlebrook Apartment Complex in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred.
Officer Glennis Polanco arrived on scene and met with the robbery victim, a 22-year-old male who resides in Asbury Park. The victim reported that he came to the complex to meet a friend. He was then confronted by an unknown black male subject while waiting outside one of the apartment buildings. The unknown male subject then produced what appeared to be a dark colored handgun and demanded the victim’s backpack, cell phone and cash. The victim complied and subsequently gave all of the proceeds to the unknown male subject. The unknown male subject then fled the area on foot. The victim, who was not injured in the ordeal, then ran to a relative’s apartment in the complex and called 911.
A search of the area was conducted with assistance from Deal Police Department’s K-9 patrol, according to the release. While the suspect(s) were not found during the immediate search, further investigation by Detectives Michael Legg, Jesse Orbach and Greg Martone revealed that a 17-year-old female, known by the victim, along with Moore, conspired to lure the Asbury Park resident to the complex and rob him. The handgun used in the robbery was believed to be an Airsoft style gun.
The 17-year-old female was released to her mother, pending a juvenile hearing in Family Court, and Moore was remanded to Monmouth County Jail until the time of his arraignment.
Moore was charged with Moore was transported to the county jail where he’ll remain until he is seen by a Superior Court Judge for his arraignment.
Officer Polanco was assisted by Ptl. Dean Schoch, John Hanna, Sgt. Sergeant Bryan Morgan and Deal Police Officer Dan Lokerson with K-9 Atok.
