Two public hearings to take place tonight
Input sought for new school superintendent, dog park location
Two public hearings are scheduled to take place in Asbury Park Thursday evening — one in consideration of a dog park and the other on the search for a new superintendent of schools.
The dog park committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the city council chambers. The committee will present research and plans and listen to feedback from residents.
The stretch of Sunset Park between Bond and Emory streets has been picked as the proposed location for the park. All residents who live within 200 feet of the location have been notified by mail. Tonight’s public hearing will give residents and others a chance to voice their opinions in regard to the park.
In addition, the Asbury Park Board of Education is inviting parents and members of the community to tell the district what they’re looking for in a new superintendent this evening.
The meeting will also take place at 7 p.m. in the Asbury Park High School auditorium.
The Board of Education has employed Kathy Winecoff of the New Jersey School Boards Association as a search consultant, according to a previously issued news release from the district. At the input session tonight, Winecoff will explain the search procedure and the roles played by the board, the staff and the public in the process, as well as the calendar for the search.
Information gathered in this and other focus groups will be used to shape candidate review documents and interview questions.
