The death of a 20 year old Asbury Park man shot and killed in the city on Friday night has been declared a homicide, according to Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Marc LeMieux.

The county medical examiner completed the autopsy today of victim Tyrell Howard to determine the manner of death, said LeMieux, who declined to give further details of the investigation or shooting.

Howard, Asbury Park Village, was hit by gunfire at approximately 10:16 p.m., while he was outside on Washington Avenue, LeMieux previously told the Sun.

He was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, where he was pronounced dead, LeMieux said. There is no evidence “at this time” that the incident is gang-related or gang-afilaited, he said.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call Det. Richard Chapman of the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office at 732-803-5380 or Det. Gabe Carasquilo of the Asbury Park Police Department at 732-502-4534.
