Vehicle struck in early morning shooting incident
No injuries reported at area hospitals
A parked vehicle was struck by bullets in a confirmed shots fired incident in the city but no further injuries have been reported.
Police received multiple calls alerting them to three shots fired at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday and located a vehicle that was struck with projectiles in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue, according to Asbury Park police Deputy Chief Anthony Salerno.
The scene was secured and Asbury Park Det. Kowsaluk along with detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office were notified and responded, he said.
A sweep of area hospitals turned up no further information.
“Area hospitals were checked and it appears there was no person shot, possibly not even shot at,” Salerno said.
Authorities declined to release information about the caliber of bullet that struck the vehicle.
