Wig Wearing Thief Faces Charges In Ocean Township
Torchia: Slade is a suspected member of the Felony Lane gang
The 44-year-old wig wearing thief from Phoenix has picked up additional charges from Ocean Township Police Department, officials announced Tuesday.
Brooke B. Slade is a suspected member of the Felony Lane gang, a group that commits ‘smash and grab’ type vehicle burglaries from parking lots, department spokesman Det Lt Timothy Torchia said.
She was charged Friday with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of burglar’s tools.
The arrest is traced back to a Jan 29 car burglary, which involved items left in plain sight being stolen, according to a written news statement. Her arrest by Asbury Park Police Department led to the recovery of the stolen items.
Slade was charged by that department on Feb 1 with criminally eluding apprehension, two counts of receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance – Xanax, trespassing, and the motor violations of reckless driving, driving without a license, two counts of failure to yield at a stop sign, having fictitious plates, failure to signal, and failure to maintain lane.
She was photographed wearing an array of wigs while attempting to use bank drive-thrus, and faces charges in multiple jurisdictions, including Toms River and Wall.
Ocean Township Det Raheem Carter investigated the local burglary.
Slade remains in custody at the Monmouth County Jail.
