Wooden Walls 2018 Offers ArtWalk & Live Art Installation

On Aug 23, Monmouth Arts popular ArtWalk series turns its attention on the collaborative Wooden Walls public art installation, located along the Asbury Park boardwalk.
Curator Jenn Hampton of Parlor Gallery and local historian Kathy Kelly of Paranormal will lead a behind the scenes look that not only offers a few inside scoops but some thrilling oral histories.
The 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. fundraising event features a Q&A, light fare, and attendee discounts on Wooden Walls merchandise from Cultivar.t!, such as the Wooden Walls beach towel. There’s also an opportunity to meet and greet a few of the artists.
Artist from across the globe have contributed to the Wooden Walls mural series since 2015. And throughout the years, the art has garnered its share of national and international attention, with feature being written in the Guardian UK, Conde Nast Traveler, and the New York Times.
Just this past month, we saw the completion of few new pieces that helped launch the 2018 season.
The first, a temporary installation inside the historic Carousel building, came from celebrated local artist Porkchop. The Carousel Building has been transformed by the Wooden Walls Project into a gallery, exhibition space and gathering space.
There’s also The Inheritance by Joe Iurato, Boom Box Saint by Dylan Egon, and LA based artist Lauren YS’ Mothbaby, located on the Sunset Avenue Pavilion.
Tickets for the 5:30 pm Aug 23 Wooden Walls ArtWalk are $50, available via monmoutharts.org.
In related news, Sunday In The Merry-Go-Round w/ artist Jeffrey Fulvimari live art exhibition noon to 6 pm Aug. 26.
Fulvimari’s popular mural on the Sunset Pavilion features lovely ladies of many shades with the message: The Ocean Is Alive, The Ocean Is Free, The Ocean Is Powerful, The Ocean Is Female.
This time around he will work before a live audience, creating on large scale paper that will be cut down and offered to onlookers.
