2015 NJ Hall of Fame inductees unveiled
Jon Stewart, Derek Jeter and Sen. Frank Lautenberg top the list
The 2015 New Jersey Hall of Fame inductees have been chosen.
Among the 13 honorees are famed columnist Anna Quindlen, comedian Jon Stewart, five-time World Series champion Derek Jeter, and U.S. Sen Frank Lautenberg.
“The people we celebrate have overcome every imaginable obstacle and challenge,” according to their website. “They have survived war, overcome the bleakness of poverty, conquered fear and disability and rebounded from untold rejections and failure.”
The annual induction ceremony will be held Oct. 22 at Convention Hall [shown above], along the Asbury Park boardwalk. While there is no permanent Hall of Fame site, the mobile museum is expected at the event.
The inductees were chosen from a list of 50 nominees via public voting in conjunction with the Hall of Fame Board of Commissioners.
This year’s honorees also include The Last of the Mohicans author James Fenimore Cooper, motion picture studio executive William Fox, New Jersey Devils and Nets, and radio station owner Lewis Katz, and Home Depot co-founder Bernard Marcus.
Grammy Award winning Kool and the Gang, Vietnam War veteran Col. Jack Jacobs who penned If Not Now When?: Duty and Sacrifice in America’s Time of Need, soccer Olympian Christie Rampone, sports broadcaster Dick Vitale, and National Women’s Business Council chair and gospel singer Carla Harris complete the list.
