On agenda: Review of UEZ audit, Rebuild By Design presentation
The city council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 4 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• City Auditor David Kaplan’s review of the UEZ corporation audit.
• A presentation by a team from the Van Allen Institute on a Rebuild by Design competition entry that seeks to improve Asbury Park’s environmental resiliency post-Sandy.
• A presentation by Deputy Mayor Sue Henderson on a Hurricane Sandy Coastal Resiliency Competitive Grant Program.
• A presentation by Tom Gilmour, the city’s director of commerce, on an EZ Ride shuttle bus.
• Several presentations by City Engineer Joe Cunha which include an amendment to a request for proposals seeking bids to rebuild the Sunset Avenue foot bridge, and a request for the city to seek bids for sewer plant roof repairs.
• Discussions on amendments to the city’s mercantile ordinance, police chaplan ordinance, and taxi ordinance.
• A request for directional signage for the inside of the city’s transportation center made by the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce.
• A resolution for a modified drug alliance agreement and a COPS Grant.
In executive session, the council will discuss contract negotiations and potential litigation for a state mandated sprinkler system to be installed in Convention Hall; several personnel appointments including the city manager’s position, a zoning board alternate, deputy clerk position, and a New Jersey Intergovernmental Insurance Fund Commissioner; contract negotiations with Diversified Realty on an empty plot of land at 700 Bangs Ave.; an update on redevelopment agreements with Interfaith Neighbors on the Springwood Avenue Project; and renewal of the city’s agreement with the New Jersey Intergovernmental Insurance Fund. They will also discuss two potential matters of litigation, one in regard to a sewer connection fee for an approved beer garden at 527 Lake Ave., and PILOT payments on the Steinbach building and the 550 Cookman Ave. apartment complex.
