The Sun’s City Council Preview
IT Services and Special Events on tonight's agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to hold a workshop meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in council chambers at City Hall at 1 Municipal Plaza.
A public participation session is scheduled to take place near the end of the meeting, after comments from city officials.
Items on the agenda for the meeting include the following special events:
• The 6th Annual Family Day, sponsored by the Charity Kings, is slated for noon to 10 p.m. June 4 at the Donald Hammary Sr. Community Courts on Prospect Avenue
• The Charity Kings’ Annual Back to School Party is slated for noon to 4 p.m. Aug 27 at the Donald Hammary Sr. Community Courts.
• The Charity Kings’ sponsored Music Fest featuring live performances by live Jazz bands is slated for noon to 8 p.m. July 2 at Sunset Park.
• Lobster Run, sponsored by Langosta Lounge, is a 5k run along the Asbury Park boardwalk to benefit the American Littoral Society, slated for 4 to 8 p.m. April 23.
• Cold War – Cold Water Surfing Contest, sponsored by boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette, is slated to take place between Feb 27 to March 18. The event hours and date will be within 48 to 72 hours of the slated time frame when the best waves are determined for the professional surfing contest.
• Annual Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade is slated for 1 to 4 p.m. March 13. The parade traverses along the boardwalk up Cookman Avenue to Main Street.
• A Cross and Orange sponsored Parade Day in Kennedy Park is slated to take place from noon to 6 p.m. March 13 in Kennedy Park. The event features Irish music, dancing, vendors, bag pipers, food and drinks.
• Asbury Park School District is requesting a date for their Annual Black History Program running from 4 to 10 p.m. near Feb. 27 at the Paramount Theatre on the boardwalk.
The City Council is slated to discuss IT services.
