Lights, Camera, Politics launches Saturday
Series looks at Presidential Scandals via Films at Stephen Crane House
The Lights! Camera! Politics! Film Series kicks-off its third season 3 p.m. Saturday at the historic Stephen Crane House on Fourth Avenue in Asbury Park.
This season’s theme is ‘Presidential Election Scandals,’ featuring three class movies with tales of political intrigue, deceit and cover-ups which attempt to influence the outcome of presidential elections, organizer Ed Johnson said.
Special guest presenters will provide a back story, complete with relevant historical production information and cinematic commentary about the film, Johnson said. Each session concludes with a post-screening reception to facilitate discussion and interpretations.
The schedule is as follows:
October 1st 3:00pm “All The President’s Men” (1976) Guest Presenter Mr. Tom Donovan, Publisher of the Asbury Park Press
November 5th 3:00pm “The Best Man” (1964). Guest Presenter Mr. Lou Lumenick, Chief Film Critic, The New York Post
December 3rd 3:00pm “Wag The Dog” (1997). Guest Presenter Mr. Ed Johnson, Mayor Emeritus and Visiting Political Science Scholar
The Stephen Crane House – Home of the Asbury Park Historical Society is located at 508 Fourth Avenue in Asbury Park. Admission is free and donations will be accepted in support of the Asbury Park Toy Drive and The Asbury Park Little League.
