Historical Society Reorganizes
A presentation on the Jersey Shore’s most famous vacation and recreational destinations will be given during the annual reorganization meeting of the Asbury Park Historical Society.
Lost Amusement Parks of the North Jersey Shore, written by Rick Geffken and George Severini, brings together rarely seen images from the Library of Congress, local historical societies, and private collections to document how the Jersey Shore became the most famous vacation and recreational destination in the coastal United States, Historical Society President Don Stine said.

Ocean PD Seeks Officers
Employment opportunities for those 18 to 35-years-old are now open with the Ocean Township Police Department.
The ideal candidates must hold an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university or have been honorably discharged from active duty with a branch of the United States Military Service and possess a high school diploma or equivalent certificate recognized by the Department of Education of the State of New Jersey.

Asbury Park Museum Seeks Readers
The newly launched Asbury Park Museum [shown in featured photo] has placed a call out for volunteer readers during the month of February.
Located temporarily in the Fifth Avenue Pavilion [1200 Ocean Ave] along the AP Boardwalk, the museum is the brainchild of Asbury Park Galleria owner Kay Harris.
The community read event is a part of the 29th Annual African-American Read In, a national celebration of African American Culture & Literature established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English.
Those interested in reading short excerpts and poems from African-American authors
during the month of February at the Asbury Park Museum located at 1200 Ocean Avenue, can email turtlelynn@gmail.com.

Garden State Film Festival Seeks Volunteers
Ahead of the return of the March 28 to 31 return of the Garden State Film Festival, organizers are seeking volunteers.
Currently in the process of vetting production crew candidates and venue managers, the team behind the annual event say they also are looking for those who can run hospitality check-in tables, pass out programs, and serve as ushers. Also needed are greeters, ticket takers and those who want to run ticket and merchandise sales.
Training is included and those with special skills should email a resume.
Volunteers will receive a badge that affords access to screening events, panel discussions, the
Friday night cocktail party and first screening, and all the after parties. They will also receive letters of recommendation and community service forms upon request.
