Property Maintenance, Springwood Avenue Redevelopment and Licensing Fee Changes on Agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall.
A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by the 7 p.m. regular council meeting.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:
• Executive Session discussions regarding personnel matters, and contract negotiations for the Springwood Associates Ground Lease Extension for 2017 and Professional Services.
• The Regular Meeting will include a presentation by the Asbury Park Housing Authority, who will be donating donate four iPads valued at $500 each to the Police Department to assist in their surveillance Housing Authority properties.
• Matter of order resolution votes include special event applications, Setting the 2017 City Council meeting dates, budgetary matters, including the acceptance of two $200,000 Environmental Protection Agency grants to assess ‘brownfields’ – properties with the presence of hazardous substances.
• Individual resolution votes include renewal of the Bangs Avenue Garage contract with the State for use of identified parking spaces for a period of 5 years, the application of an NJDOT grant for needed maintenance along Heck Street Between Asbury and Fifth avenues, and amending the Michaels Group Redevelopment Agreement to include phase one only development of the planned Renaissance project in the Springwood Avenue Redevelopment Area.
• New policy changes being introduced include changes to the Property Maintenance Code, the addition of two new seats on the city’s Planning Board, changes to special event fees, and the creation of three positions to address the need for an in house IT professional and creation of a deputy court administrator post in order to add responsibilities to a current employee’s duties.
• The public will be given an opportunity to ask question and make comments prior to the final votes on repealing cat licensing fees, changes to fees associated with public area displays, business licensing fees, penalties associated with bicycle law violations, and the vacation of the Boston Way Right of Way to accommodate the redevelopment project by the same. name.
