The Asbury Park Fire Department responded to a Friday night report of a car plowing into a home at Prospect and Bangs avenues, Fire Chief Kevin Keddy reports.

On arrival, just prior to midnight, members of the fire department found a vehicle struck the left side of a home below the sill plate and through the foundation, Keddy said in a written report.

The damage included approximately 4 inches into the 2½ story multi dwelling building’s basement. The home is set back 100 feet from Prospect Avenue behind 1109 Bangs Avenue, Keddy said.

Temporary struts were placed in order to reinforce the car’s  removal, done by the city’s contracted tow company. New Jersey Natural Gas and JCP&L secured utility services.

Once the municipality’s Building Department gave an all clear, the temporary struts were removed without incident, Keddy said.
