Burglary & Theft Arrest
The Asbury Park Police Department arrested a 37-year-old city resident in connection to the burglary at a Seventh Avenue home, Deputy Chief David Kelso said.
Jackie Small, was charged with burglary and the theft of up to $500 worth of tools from a home in the 600 block, department spokesman Sgt. Michael Casey said.
The Case was investigated by Detective Gabriel Carrasquillo, and Small was released on a summons, pending a future court appearance.
Free Holiday Parking Expanded
The City has announced free all day parking on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve has been added to its free Saturday afternoon schedule.
The free parking applies to all metered parking in all zones, as follows:
Thursday 11/23/17 – all day
Saturday 11/25/17 – noon to 6 p.m.
Saturday 12/2/17 – noon to 6 p.m.
Saturday 12/9/17 – noon to 6 p.m.
Saturday 12/16/17 – noon to 6 p.m.
Saturday 12/23/17 – noon to 6 p.m.
Monday 12/25/17 – all day
Monday 1/1/18 – all day
City Council Meeting
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the next Asbury Park City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday Nov. 21. The public sessions include a 6 p.m. workshop and 7 p.m. regular session.
City offices will be closed Nov. 23 and 24.
Choice Neighborhood Meeting Planned
The next phase of the Choice Neighborhood Transformation Plan continues at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 28. The public meeting will include a review of the plan, aimed at helping to transform the southwest neighborhood into a place of opportunity and economic growth.
The planning efforts are funded through a $500,000 Housing and Urban Development [HUD] grant. City and Housing Authority officials have been working with a team of stakeholders and residents to create a comprehensive vision.
The meeting will be held at the Asbury Park Senior Center, located at 1201 Springwood Ave.
