Deal PD Accreditation, Capabianco at Ministerial Alliance, Culinary Arts Open House, & Community Prayer & Cleanup
Deal PD Accreditation
Representatives from the New Jersey Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission completed an on-site assessment of the Deal Police Department [shown in feature photo] this week. The assessors examined all aspects of the Norwood Avenue police department, including the agency’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services. The Deal Police Department now awaits a final decision from the State Accreditation Commission, officials said.
Ministerial Alliance Meeting
Asbury Park City Manager Michael Capabianco [at right] will be the guest speaker during the next Asbury Park Neptune Ministerial Alliance meeting. Capabianco will discuss the code enforcement issues and guidelines.
The Ministerial Alliance is comprised of clergy from various houses of from worship throughout the two communities. They are led by the following pastors: President John Bradley, Vice President Sondra Gonzales, Secretary Bernard Oates and Social Action Chairman Edmond Lee. The event will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Temple, located at 1301 Springwood Avenue.
Culinary Education Center Open House
Get a behind the scenes look at the nationally accredited educational offerings at the Culinary Education Center, located at 101 Drury Lane in Asbury Park. A collaboration between Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Vocational School District, the Center features professional-grade kitchens, a working bakery and a full-service dining room.
The free open house will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, and features tours and faculty on hand to discuss the center’s varied certificates and associate degree programs, internship opportunities and careers available in the culinary and pastry arts fields. Citywide Prayer Gathering
On Wednesday, the monthly Citywide Prayer Gathering returns at Friendship Baptist Church, located at 929 Mattison Ave. The event, which is held from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, is a spiritual community call to help stay the violence and killings that have plagued the city.
Community Cleanup
The Asbury Park City Council and its Quality of Life Committee will host a Community Cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Participants should meet at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, located at 1200 Bangs Ave. To sign up or for more information, call Yvonne Adams at 732-502-4561 or Joyel Furges at 732-610-5289.
