Monmouth County’s Democrat and Republican party organizations are uniting for the first time to hold a fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy relief at the Stone Pony.

“We’re putting politics aside in the name of disaster relief,” said Joe Grillo, chair of the Asbury Park Democrats and executive director of the Monmouth County Democrats. “This is such a large catastrophe that it goes beyond politics and partisan divisions.”

The two groups will unite to raise money for the Governor Chris Christie’s Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. The fundraiser is being held on Sunday, Dec. 30, from 1 to 7 p.m. Admission will cost $25, with tickets being sold at the door. Organizers will also sell tickets via email within the coming weeks.

Not all of the details have been finalized, but the B Street Band has been confirmed as a performer. Organizers are seeking food donations for a buffet-style meal. Organizers will announce more details when the date of the event nears, Grillo said.
