Below is the Allenhurst police blotter from July 28 through August 13. The information is published unedited from the Allenhurst Police Department:
JULY 28
After stopping a 37-year old Wanamassa man for driving an unregistered vehicle, he was subsequently found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was placed under arrest. He was processed, and released to a responsible/sober adult. He was issued Allenhurst traffic summonses for DWI, reckless driving, and having an expired registration. His vehicle was also impounded. Ptl Scott Rapolla was the arresting officer and was assisted by Sgt James Rogers.
JULY 30
The Allenhurst Police Department was notified about a vehicle that crashed in Asbury Park earlier, where the driver fled, and the vehicle was registered to an Allenhurst resident. Ptl Mike DiBona spoke to the vehicle owner who was not aware his vehicle was even missing. The subject was charged with criminal offenses in Neptune City, where the pursuit originated, and in Asbury Park.Criminal charges are pending in Allenhurst, pending further investigation into how the vehicle was stolen.
AUGUST 3
Police responded to a reported domestic assault in town. Upon their arrival the officers did find signs that an assault took place. The 50-year old man was found in a neighboring jurisdiction and was placed under arrest, without incident. Both Ocean Twp PD and Deal PD assisted in this investigation. Ptl Wray Burritt was the arresting officer.
AUGUST 5
Police responded to the beachfront, near the end of Elberon Avenue, for a report of a suspicious person. Officers located a 46-year old homeless woman sleeping in the weeds. She was checked for warrants and was deemed to be of a satisfactory mental state. She was warned about trespassing and police assisted in getting her on the next NB train, since she indicated she wanted to go to Paramus. She also declined any other social services. Ptl Marc Eustace and Capt Michael Schneider were the responding officers.
An incident of malicious mischief was reported to the police, that occurred at the beach club, involving a group of juveniles. The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by Ptl Mike DiBona.
After stopping a 36-year old Long Branch woman on a motor vehicle stop, she was arrested on an outstanding warrant, out of Tinton Falls. The woman was processed and released, after posting cash bail. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer.
AUGUST 9
Due to a request from surrounding towns, from Ocean Township, Ptl Lipari responded to the VFW on Norwood Avenue to help in clearing a large fight that was taking place.
AUGUST 10
Officer checked on a subject he found sleeping in the area of the water tower in the early morning hours. The subject was checked for warrants, advised of the borough Ordinance and sent on his way. Ptl Rapolla was the investigating officer.
Officers responded to a Main Street business, at their request, due to an argument with a customer. Upon their arrival, the matter had already been settled between the store owner and the customer. Ptl Marc Eustace and Ptl Rapolla were the responding officers.
AUGUST 11
Officers responded to a 2 car motor vehicle crash at Cedar/Norwood Avenues. The crash was found to be relatively minor in nature and there were no injuries. There were no summonses issued and Ptl DiBona was the investigating officer and was assisted by Sgt Rogers.
AUGUST 12
Officers responded to a possible burglary in progress to one of the apartments on Main Street. A subject was seen on the roof apparently trying to get into a window. Officers responded and arrested 30-year old Neptune man, at gunpoint, on the roof. He was charged with trespassing, pending a further investigation into the matter. Ptl DiBona was the arresting officer and he was assisted by Chief Richter.
AUGUST 13
Police responded to a 2 vehicle motor vehicle crash, in the 100 block of Main Street. The crash was found to be minor in nature and no summonses were issued. Ptl DiBona was the responding officer.
A 54-year old Asbury Park man was stopped, when officer noticed no front license plate on his vehicle. He was later found to be driving without a drivers license and driving with revoked privileges. He was issued traffic summonses for improper display of plates, driving while unlicensed, and driving while suspended. The vehicle key was released to a properly licensed driver. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer.
Police responded to a pedestrian that had fallen on the Corlies Avenue bridge. Officers responded and requested the First Aid squad respond. The subject was transported to the Jersey Shore Medical Center and charges are pending against the subject for disorderly conduct, due to his level of intoxication, at the time. Ptl Eustace and Ptl Rapolla were the responding officers.
