AP Celebrates Local Government Week
City Council Invites Public To Series of Events Being Held April 7 to 13
The City of Asbury Park passed a resolution at last night’s Council Meeting supporting NJ Local Government Week, a weeklong celebration that raises awareness about the importance of municipal government and its daily impact on residents. The initiative, which takes place April 7-13, 2019, is sponsored by the NJ State League of Municipalities and encourages participants to create programming to help residents understand how their local government operates, the services it provides, and the importance of their active involvement.
“NJ Local Government Week is a great opportunity for the citizens of Asbury Park to become more informed about the many services we provide,” said Mayor John Moor, “We hope to engage all residents in these events and that it will lead to more knowledgeable citizen participation in the future.”
“It’s important for everyone who lives in, and loves, Asbury Park, to participate in local government–especially our youth,” said Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn, “Which is why, as part of NJ Local Government Week, we are hosting tours of City Hall for Hope Academy and the Asbury Park Public Schools.”
