The Tuesday afternoon apartment fire at the First Avenue Chrome Shop and Brass Refinishing building remains under investigation, Asbury Park Fire Chief Kevin Keddy said.
While there were no reported injuries in the near 4 p.m. blaze, 11 people were displaced.
“We don’t believe [the fire] to be suspicious in nature,” Keddy said.
Firefighters were met with fire and smoke piercing through a second floor window, Keddy said.
According to a department report the blaze was contained within 15 minutes and completely knocked down within a half hour.
All 11 people were relocated by the Jersey Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The first floor business that sits between Comstock and Langford streets sustained some smoke and water damage, Keddy said.
