Asbury Fresh to ‘Pop up’ for Small Business Saturday
Artisan market will occupy old Holdfast/Russo Music space for a day
Organizers of Asbury Park’s downtown artisan market Asbury Fresh will host a winter “pop-up”market on Small Business Saturday.
The market will run from 12-6 p.m. at 639 Cookman Ave., which once housed the Russo Music store and local record shop Holdfast. Live music and entertainment will take place throughout the day, according to a news release from the event’s organizers.
Vendors are expected to offer handcrafted jewelry, winter apparel, baked goods and vegan fare, the release stated.
Asbury Fresh is one of three local farmer and artisan markets that run throughout the summer in the city. For the past two years, it has brought over 30 vendors to Kennedy Park, located at the corner of Cookman and Grand avenues, on Sundays from June to September.
Market co-organizers Bret Morgan and Michelle Zarella are in search of ways for the market to have a continued presence in the community throughout the winter months. The two have found an “eager response” from vendors who have signed up to be a part of the winter “pop-up” market, the release stated.
“We all got to be family over the summer,” said Morgan in the release. “The vendors and patrons are what make Asbury Fresh so much fun. We couldn’t wait for another opportunity to get everyone together again.”
Founded by American Express, Small Business Saturday takes place Saturday, Nov. 30—the Saturday after Black Friday. Consumers are encouraged to purchase holiday gift items at local businesses on that Saturday.
