Asbury Park CAN network to host public meeting
Group seeks to address issue of violence in the city
The Asbury Park Community Action Network [Asbury CAN] is set to host their third Summit to End Violence meeting on Saturday, Jan. 11 at St. Stephen AME Zion Church and members of the public are invited to attend.
Asbury CAN is a grassroots effort that seeks to address violence in the city by tackling what group members believe to be the six root causes of violent behavior: health, law enforcement, jobs, family, housing and education.
Previous meetings have seen subcommittees formed for each area. Summit organizers also announced the creation of the Asbury CAN telephone number for residents to call with questions about services relating to the six topics.
An information session and discussion on the topics is scheduled to start at noon, according to a news release from event organizers.
Residents, families, children and community stakeholders are asked to meet at the church, located at 1001 Springwood Ave.
The Asbury CAN number is 732-361-0952.
