Chocolate Sage celebrates Grand Opening on Main
Mother's Day free tasting from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday
For Donna Harrison, the taste of happiness is Chocolate.
Be it a sunny citrus treat that wraps an orange peel in dark chocolate; a peanut butter and homemade raspberry jelly Bon Bon enveloped in milk chocolate ganache and finished with a dark chocolate coating; or the Razzle Dazzle Truffle Chocolates offering that features a selection of Gold, Copper and Sapphire – milk chocolate caramel, dark chocolate, and cassis, there are options for every conceivable palate.
A former corporate executive, Harrison left the rat race to pursue her dream. That dream was realized Saturday when members of the community joined the city resident in celebrating the Grand Opening of Chocolate Sage.
“Everything’s in place… time to pop a cork and make some magic,” she wrote in announcement of the event. “Stop by for a taste of happiness at the grand opening of Chocolate Sage.”
On Saturday, Harrison will offer pre Mother’s Day free tasting from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Main Street Shop, she said.
“Chocolate is much more than a food flavor,” Harrison has said. “It is to be enjoyed by all of your sense. It is visually artistic. You can enjoy the taste and smell while hearing that satisfying crunch. It is just a complete experience that bring all your senses to the table.”
Her love of chocolate began as a hobby and after years of study, developed into the master chocolatier designation.
“I am compelled to do chocolate,” she’s said. “This is what I wake up thinking about, this is very much what I want to do.”
Harrison received her training through Ecole Chocolat in Vancouver BC, studied at the French Culinary Institute in New York, and earned the Master Chocolatier designations fromEcole Du Grand Chocolat Valrhona à Tain L’Hermitage France.
Aside from the point of sale items, Chocolate Sage provides small group tutorials in its professional chocolate kitchen, and catering for special events and corporate affairs.
