The second term Republican governor will spend the afternoon on walk through Ocean Grove’s downtown business district before his 2 p.m. visit to the city’s first new hotel in over 50 years.

Located one block away from the waterfront in the former Salvation Army building on Fifth Avenue, The Asbury opened Memorial Day weekend with a full lineup of talent and event.

The hotel, owned by waterfront redeveloper iStar, features 110 rooms, roof-top lounges, pool area and a beer garden with food trucks. There is also an indoor-outdoor event space set to open in a few weeks.

Christie will then set out on a walking tour of the Asbury Park boardwalk, according to his communication’s office.
