Cops search for jewelry store robbers
Brandishing a handgun, two males took jewels, money from Main Street shop
The Asbury Park Police Department is searching for two males who allegedly held up a jewelry store at Main Street and Bangs Avenue then fled on foot.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, two males entered the store, Police Chief Mark Kinmon said, where three employees were working.
“They were talking about making different purchases and trying on some jewelry,” Kinmon said.
Then, one of the suspects took a silver handgun out of a bag he was carrying, Kinmon said. The two men took jewelry and cash, put them in the bag and fled on foot. No one was hurt.
Nothing like this has happened in the city recently, Chief Kinmon said. The investigation is ongoing.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to bring this case to a quick, successful conclusion,” Kinmon said.
