Festhalle’s Weihnachtsmarkt pop-up market opens Saturday
Biergarten joins in offering artisan wares through holiday season
Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten joins the city’s holiday pop-up offerings this weekend.
The Festhalle Weihnachtsmarkt will run from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Dec 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, and 20, weather permitting.
Weihnachtsmarkt, or Christmas Market is a European holiday tradition originating from German Austria, Italy and France, organizers say. These quaint open air markets date back to the late middle ages with the 1294 Vienna “December Market.”
Festhalle’s pop-up market will feature holiday food and drink menus, live music, and tree lighting on the Lake Avenue eatery’s 9,000 square-foot rooftop.
Opening day includes Santa Con, the Krampus Crawl Party and a Nikolaus Kids Party,
Photos with Santa will run from 1 to 4 p.m. and those who bring an unwrapped toy for the Asbury Park Toy Drive will receive a special gift.
Patrons who, from 6 to 9 p.m., dress for the Santa Con and Krampus Crawl will receive a special treat.
Festhalle’s market will showcase local artisan gifts, decorations, specialty foods, and handcrafted toys from an array of vendors. They include: Interwoven, Heirloom Kitchen, Vlad, Patriae Studio, Seven Arrows Farm, Cardinal, Talula’s, Salvage Angel, Nomad Asbury, Sweet Dani B, and Lola’s Café.
Music includes live performances, carolers and a Musikmarkt – showcasing CD’s of original music by local musicians.
Other seasonal pop-ups include the Asbury Fresh Pop-Up, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 19 at the newly opened House of Independents on Cookman Avenue and the Asbury Park Bazaar Pop-Up, running from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sundays through Dec. 20 in the Grand Arcade at Convention Hall on the boardwalk.
