GoFundMe Page Created To Support 10 Yr Old Yovanni Banos-Merino’s Burial
Community pledges funds and words of condolences
A GoFundMe page has been created to help fund the funeral services for 10-year-old Yovanni Banos-Merino, the victim of a Wednesday night’s shooting at a Ridge Avenue home.
The boy’s mother Lilia Merino, 38, also sustained injuries but was treated and released from Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township, officials have said.
The fundraising page was created Thursday and garnered support from 65 people at the time of this posting.
The site was created by Vanessa Martinez, who wrote via social media “My brother died in my arms, you tell me how I’m supposed to feel.”
Martinez thanked those who have already contributed over $2,000 toward the $7,000 expense by saying “Thank you everyone that is donating money to my brother and all the support.”
Those who have been pledging everything from $5 to $200 in support have also been adding condolences to the family.
No funeral arrangements have been announced. A vigil is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County, located at 1201 Monroe Ave.
