A 21-year-old Haddon Heights man was arrested on driving while intoxicated charges after crashing his car into a tree along Park Avenue near Larchwood Road.

Matthew R Brown was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to wear a seat belt, open container in a motor vehicle, and failure to maintain a lane, according to a new release from Ocean Township Det. Lt. Timothy Torchia.

Police, who were called near 5:26 p.m. Thursday to the scene, found Brown’s 1999 Honda Accord in the middle of Park Avenue after it crashed into a tree, according to the report. Brown was transported to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch for the minor injuries he sustained.

The crash remains under investigation and Brown was released, pending a future court appearance.
