Monday city council workshop meeting cancelled
Asbury Park area expected to get two feet of snow overnight
Tonight’s city council workshop meeting has been cancelled due to hazardous weather conditions, Asbury Park Fire Chief Kevin Keddy has confirmed.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m.
Meeting times will remain the same, with a closed executive session at 5:00 p.m.; a workshop session at 6:30 p.m.; and a regular meeting at 7 p.m.
The city is expected to release further storm-related information for residents. The Sun will post further updates as they come.
Most recent storm updates put total accumulation between 16 and 24 inches for the Neptune area, Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex and the northern NJ counties that border New York City including NYC, according to Tri-State Storm Watch, consisting of intermittent light snow for much of the daylight hours today on Monday with minor accumulations. Heavy snow conditions start between 8 and 10 p.m. Monday evening, with the 12-hour period from 10 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday producing the worst of the storm with heavy snow and extreme blowing and drifting.
There will be a period from midnight Monday night to Tuesday morning where venturing outside will be life threatening, according to the local forecast.
