Rice Opens On Cookman Avenue
Asian Eatery Features Chinese, Thai & Japanese Cuisine
Rice, an Asian eatery, opened Wednesday at 718 Cookman Avenue.
The new restaurant is owned by Chinese natives Chloe Chu, Su Zheng, Sally Zheng, and Evan Ye, who are all based out of Long Branch.
Chu said the 3,000 square foot venue offers fresh and healthy Chinese, Thai and Japanese cuisine.
“We actually cover a lot,” she said. “People get a lot of options so we are happy to help them choose.”
The 14-page menu features some traditional dishes along with house specialties, like Cook Man – a shrimp tempura, cucumber and spicy tuna roll with crunch masago and scallions, served with a spicy mayo sauce.
And while there are gluten-free and vegan options, patrons can request recipe adjustments based on dietary needs.
“If a customer tells us they need gluten-free you can tell us and we will make it gluten-free,” Chue said. “We can make anything healthy and we do have healthy options on the menu.”
Chu said they chose Asbury Park for its growing tourism and vicinity to the beach. Her husband Evan Ye is the venue’s sushi chef.
The restaurant is offering a 15 percent grand opening discount, with $5 off orders over $35 and $10 off orders over $60, Chu said. BYOB is accepted.
