Serial burglarist loot dates back to 2013
Neptune man remanded to Monmouth County Jail
A collaborative investigation by Monmouth County police departments led to the arrest of a serial burglar, Ocean Township Police Department spokesman Det. Lt. Timothy Torchia said Wednesday.
Tommy Earls, 55, of Neptune, has been charged with over ten residential burglaries, one of which dates back to 2013, and a commercial burglary, Torchia said.
The collaborative investigation with Holmdel, Little Silver and Shrewsbury Police Departments began after a string of burglaries plagued those communities. As a result, Earls was identified as a suspect.
“On December 10th, 2015 information was learned that Earls was in possession of proceeds from a burglary that occurred in Little Silver,” Torchia said. “After acquiring this information Ocean Township detectives located Earls in Neptune Township and placed him into custody.”
Little Silver police department obtained a search warrant for Earls’ Neptune home and warrants were issued for his vehicle and a storage unit he rented in Neptune, Torchia said. The warrants yielded proceeds and property from burglaries that occurred in Ocean.
Earls remains at Monmouth County Jail in liue of $600,000 bail.
Ocean police involved were Dt. Sgt. Thomas Burke and Detectives Michael Legg, Jeffrey Malone, Bryan Morgan, Michael Melody and Jesse Orbach.
