Update: Two Sharks spotted off Deal Casino

Swimmers removed from water until further notice

The Deal Police Department has issued a shark sighting advisory.

“Lifeguards observed 2 sharks, 100 to 150 feet offshore,” said Sgt. William Hulse.

The sharks were spotted outside a school of dolphins in front of Deal Casino and appeared to headed north toward Long Branch, Hulse said.

“We took precautionary measures and removed everyone from the waters and beachfront,” Hulse said.

Beach officials will reevaluate the coastline at 12:30 p.m. before allowing anyone to return to beach, he said.

No injuries were reported.
