Shooting victims expected to be released from hospital Tuesday
Police encourage community members to call in with tips and information
Police are encouraging members of the Asbury Park community who may have information about a Monday night shooting incident that left two adults and one infant injured to call in and report what they know.
“We would appreciate anyone giving us a call to any one of our numbers,” said Charles Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. “We really need to get to the bottom of this one and we need everyone’s help to make that happen.”
About 13 to 15 shots were fired in the 700 block of Comstock Street Monday evening leaving a 19-year-old male, 29-year-old female, and her daughter, a 22-month-old female, with non-threatening life injuries. All three were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
The two adults were treated and released from the hospital today, Webster said. The 22-month-old girl is currently in the pediatric intensive care unit, but is expected to be downgraded from the intensive care unit and released later today, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. John R Liebfried at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-800-533-7443 or the Asbury Park police detective bureau at 732-774-1300.
Alternatively, those who wish to remain anonymous can submit tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-671-4400. Tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers by texting “MONMOUTH” plus the tip to 274637 [CRIMES].
Although the three were injured in the incident they were not targeted in any way, Webster said.
“This is a heinous crime,” said Webster. “We need to find out who did this.”
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
