Suit up for Pink Prom at Hotel Tides
Event will raise funds for Project R.E.A.L. youth center in Asbury Park
Prom season is on its way and Hotel Tides in Asbury Park is once again inviting people to don their best tuxedos and gowns to promote a worthy cause.
The Pink Prom raises will raise funds for Project Real Empowerment on All Levels [R.E.A.L.], an LGBT youth center in Asbury Park where young adults can form both social and support networks for issues that pertain to them, according to an event release. Project R.E.A.L. is a program of the Prevention Resource Network.
“When I started this fundraising event last year, my initial goal was not only to allow the members of our community to come together and have a good time at a positive event, but also to do something that would be financially beneficial for an organization doing so many good deeds for the LGBTQ community,” Eric Pinckney, event founder, is quoted as saying in the release.
The event also allows people in the LGBT community who didn’t attending their own high school prom to come celebrate in a formal, socially comfortable atmosphere, according to Pinckney.
Pink Prom will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Hotel from 8 p.m. to midnight with an after party at the Cameo Bar on Main Street. Josh Zuckerman and Broadway performer Marty Thomas will provide entertainment at the Tides.
“I’m so glad that, along with Ryan Jimenez, general manager of the Hotel Tides, we’ve been able to do this once again, on a larger scale this year,” said Pinckney.
Tickets for the event are $75 per person and go on sale Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Hotel Tides, located at 408 7th Ave. they may also be purchased online at www.hoteltides.com. Discounted rooms are available all weekend at the Hotel Tides for those who attend the event and discounted prom floral couture is available at Peter James Floral Couture located in the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel.
