Sun’s City Council Preview
Summer Rentals, Liquor License, angled parking on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall.
A closed executive session will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda include:
• Executive Session discussions include a potential Veterans Tax Exemption Challenge, amendment to the city’s Subsequent Developer’s Agreement and the sale of a portion of Overlook Park, informally known as Kennedy Park.
• The City Council will vote on special event and wedding applications, as well as budgetary matters before considering resolutions regarding a sustainable land use pledge, endorsement of Green Building Practices, liquor licenses, and foreclosure proceedings for 1411 Memorial Drive, listed as a 12,000 square foot commercial space.
• A new ordinance introducing angled parking along the north side of Deal Lake Drive from Kingsley Street to the state’s Department of Transportation right-of-way is on the agenda as well as final votes for a Grand Avenue handicap parking space and a $2.7 million bond for Fourth Avenue road improvements, covered in part by a $347,247 state Department of Transportation grant.
• The governing body also will vote on guidelines for summer rentals, specifically defined as two to three rentals in a homeowner’s primary residence.
