Sparky [shown in featured photo], believed to be a 5-year-old Spaniel mix and Mindy [shown below right], a 3½ year old Doxie mix have one thing in common. They are in search of forever homes through the help of locally based nonprofit Tails of Hope.

In accepting all breeds, Tails of Hope’s network of volunteers work to help homeless animals across the state find homes.tails-of-hope-2

Whether it be through foster care or adoption, the nonprofit facilitates animal rescues, veterinary care, training and education for prospective pet owners. They also work with families  to help keep pets in the home whenever possible, officials said.

On Sunday, the organization will host its inaugural Beach BBQ Bash at Anchor’s Bend on the Asbury Park boardwalk. The fundraising endeavor will support their myriad of programs and support endeavors for the rescue’s animals.

Held from 2 to 6 p.m., the benefit event features live music, end of summer BBQ fare, and a 50/50 and gift basket auction featuring donations from the New York Jets, Delicious Orchards, Shop Rite, Paul Mitchell, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Bally’s Casino, Medieval Times, Jenkinson’s Aquarium, and Panera Bread, to name a few.

Advanced $25 tickets, which includes food, soft drinks and an auction ticket sampler packet, are available via their website or by e-mailing [email protected] Tickets will be $30 at the door.
