A roster of talent will vie for a spot in the 2018 TEDxAsburyPark lineup Thursday at the Paramount Theatre, located on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.

Among the largest TEDx Conference offerings along the eastern seaboard, the event allows a live studio [on stage] audience to rate performances and offers the aspiring presenters tutelage ahead of the May 19 main event.

Known for selling out each year, TEDxAsburyPark began harvesting this year’s talent pool during a November Open Mic that featured a lineup of creatives from across the state and Philly.  came before a live audience to deliver a shortened TED-style talk.

This year’s theme is passion. 

“Passion drives ideas, people, and communities to action,” organizers said in a written news release. “Passion makes leaders. Passion combined with knowledge creates new ideas worth spreading. Passion can lead both to creation and destruction, to inspiration, suffering, grit, compassion, and extraordinary service.”

And while speaking slots for the Live Audition are filled, TEDxAsburyPark is still accepting applications for the May 19 event, organizers said.

Those interested in attending the 7 p.m. live audition can register for the free event at tedxasburypark.com; doors open at 6:30 p.m. The Paramount Theatre is located at 1300 Ocean Avenue, on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
