Budget, Savoy tax exemption, road and capital improvement bonds on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall.
A closed executive session will start at 6 p.m., followed by the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting.
•Executive session discussion regarding contract negotiations with Interfaith Neighbors [at right] for the Turf Club agreements, police personnel and the Deputy Chief’s contract, as well as litigation matters concerning disciplinary and workers compensation cases and NJIIF covered workers compensation claims.
•Regular session meeting votes include those on budgetary matters, the place-to-place liquor license transfer for Bond Street Bar, applications to the Local Finance Board, NJDOT’s Transit Village program, NJDEP’s 2016 road program, the Police Department’s Accreditation status, and approval of waterfront redeveloper iStar’s Summer Experience program changes [below left].
The changes include rebranding efforts that remove the Waterfront designation. According to istar Senior Vice President of Land and Development Brian Cheripka, the measure is meant to signify promotion of Asbury Park as a whole – not just the waterfront area which is currently in the process homes and businesses revitalization.
•Also on the agenda are changes to the Springwood Avenue [above right] billing.
•A bond ordinance refund for general improvement totaling $4.2 million will be introduced.
•The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments before the City Council makes final votes on municipal budget that would raise the average homeowner’s annual taxes by $152. Full article available here.
