Special officer appointments, expansion of Langosta Lounge on agenda
The city council is scheduled to meet tonight in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
The following items are on the agenda:
• A vote on expansion of the premises at Langosta Lounge. The popular boardwalk restaurant is currently being renovated to prepare for a grand opening by the end of the month. The restaurant has been closed since sustaining damage from Hurricane Sandy in October 2012.
• A vote on the appointment of several Class I special police officers.
• Possible appointments to the Housing Authority and Planning Board.
• The naming of a recycling coordinator, as well as a presentation on the city’s recycling contract with Atlantic Coast Fibers.
• A presentation on vending on the beach front during the workshop session.
• Discussions in closed session of the Convention Hall sprinklers; a resolution approving a land exchange agreement in the waterfront redevelopment area; a subsequent redeveloper agreement between Asbury Park and Madison Asbury Retail; and acquisition of a bank-owned property on Bangs Avenue for use as a parking garage.
